Sandwich boards are primarily intended for people who cannot use both hands smoothly. They have an L-shaped edge at the front and possibly pins to fix fruit, for example. These pins are not too sharp for safety reasons, so that a minimum amount of force is always required to push vegetables or fruit onto them, for example.

It is a compromise between safety and functionality.
Sandwich boards are in principle suitable for the household dishwasher at a moderate temperature.
