What is it?
Since 1 January 2019, Iriscare has been responsible for mobility tools for people with disabilities living in the Brussels-Capital Region.
As a resident of Brussels, you may be entitled to a concession from your mutuality in Brussels under certain conditions.
Not only wheelchairs, but also other mobility aids are eligible for a subsidy. Think of rollers, manual wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs as well as scooters, running aids, orthopaedic tricycles and sta-systems.
How do you apply for the concession?
Your first contact person is your doctor. Application procedure.
Watch this!
- If you purchase a mobility tool yourself before the final decision of your Brussels sickness fund, you risk not being compensated for a refusal.
- For certain types of wheelchairs and other mobility aids, you may have to pay part of your mobility aid yourself despite the allowance provided by your Brussels sickness fund.
Are you entitled to an additional allowance?
Are you recognised as a person with disabilities by Phare or is your disability recognised by the Flemish Agency for Persons with Disabilities (VAPH)? Your Brussels mutuality does the necessary.
Are you a member of the Flemish Social Protection (VSB)? You can choose whether to apply for a grant via VSB or through your Brussels mutuality. You cannot combine the two.
