Fall prevention - a quick course

As you get older (65+), the risk of falling increases. Mobility, muscle strength and balance are no longer what it was and vision is also deteriorating. Fall prevention is not really difficult, you don't even need tools for that right away. Using a number of points of interest, you will ensure that falls no longer occur.

1. Fall prevention begins with yourself

When prevention of falls is discussed, it is especially important to keep moving.Keep activeis the perfect remedy for muscle weakness and balance problems. e.g. taking a bike when you go shopping, working in the garden, going swimming once a half hour a day is enough to optimise endurance and thus reduce the risk of falling.   • - Avoid shoes that are openat the back like slippers and slippers

You should also take good care of your feet. Take into account bunions, open wounds, ingrown nails, blisters or ulcers and discuss them with your doctor.

 

Living environment

Simple adjustments to the living environment can also help you prevent accidents.


General

Make sure you have enough in your homelightingin the case of stairs and in the bedroom, this prevents a deterioration of your vision. Try to make your stair safe by making clear where the steps are located,especially the first and last step!
