Participants were divided into three groups: Kundalini-yoga, cognitive behavioral therapy and stress education. Kundalini-yogue included breathing and relaxation exercises, yoga theory, meditation and mindfulness. Cognitive behavioural therapy focused on influencing behaviour by addressing thoughts while stress education informed participants about stress related effects and anxiety reduction through a healthy lifestyle.
Results showed that anxiety symptoms decreased in 54% of yoga participants, 71% in cognitive behavioral therapy and 33% in stress education.

Although Kundalini-yoga and stress education proved effective, the study concludes that cognitive behavioral therapy still produces the best results in anxiety disorders. However, the research emphasises that it is specifically Kundalini-yogue and that both participants and researchers were aware of the group classification, which can influence the results. Moreover, the majority of participants consisted of women, making conclusions for men more difficult.
