Symptoms of muscle attraction
The symptoms of muscle stretching may vary depending on the severity of the injury, but common symptoms include:
- Pain or sensitivity in the affected area
- Redness or bruising
- Pain in movement
- Muscle cramps
- Swelling
- Muscle weakness
Causes of muscle attraction
A muscle stretch can occur due to acute movement or overload. Acute strain can be caused by sudden movements, such as wrong body posture while lifting heavy objects. Chronic muscle stretches may result from repeated muscle overload, suchas exercise or activity requiring the same movement.
Although everyone can get muscle attraction, older people, overweight people and participants in contact sports are at increased risk. Certain body parts are also more sensitive to stretches, including fingers, wrists, ankles, shoulders, groin, hamstrings, lower back and knees.
Tear, sprain or muscle rupture?
It is important to know the difference between a strain, a sprain and a muscle rupture. A stretch causes a muscle or tendon to be injured while a spitting damage damages the tissue bonds that connect two bones. A muscle rupture is a more severe injury in which the muscle fibers actually tear.
Treatment of muscle attraction
Mild muscle stretches can usually be treated at home with the following steps:
- Cooling: Apply cold running water, a cold pack or ice cubes directly after injury to the affected area to reduce swelling and inflammation.
- Elevation: Lift the injured body part up to reduce swelling.
- Pressure bandage: If necessary, a pressure bandage may be applied to prevent further swelling.
- Rest: Give the injured area sufficient rest and avoid activities that cause pain until the symptoms are gone.
If symptoms persist or worsen, such as unbearable pain, numbness or tingling, it is advisable to seek medical attention.
A muscle stretch can be annoying, but with proper treatment and care it can heal quickly. Always remember to listen to your body and avoid overload to prevent injuries.
